This comprehensive refurbishment of a Victorian terraced house within the Notting Hill Conservation Area in London was completed in 2006.
The project introduces a contemporary two-storey glazed garden extension that draws natural light deep into the plan, transforming the spatial quality of the home while maintaining a clear dialogue with the historic fabric.
Strong horizontal elements unify the building’s elevations, visually tying together the principal volumes while providing passive shading to the extensive glazing. These carefully articulated planes frame outward views and balance transparency with privacy, resulting in a sensitive yet distinctly modern intervention within a conservation setting.
