Set within the Stoke Newington Conservation Area and bordering Abney Park Cemetery, The Cotton Exchange transforms a former textile factory into a refined collection of 35 loft-style apartments. Nestled between the cemetery and Stoke Newington Church Street, the scheme balances industrial heritage with contemporary living.

The original warehouse fabric has been retained and sensitively enhanced, with existing structures re-clad in brick slips to revitalise the façades while preserving embodied carbon. Historic features

have been restored wherever possible, celebrating the building’s industrial past, while modern interventions introduce light, flexibility and comfort.

At its core, the project champions adaptive reuse—maximising the value of the existing building stock and significantly reducing environmental impact. The result is a characterful yet contemporary residential environment that respects its conservation setting while delivering sustainable urban living.
