Contemporary Zero-Carbon Mews in Farnham Conservation Area
Location | Farnham
Client | Chapter One
Status | Construction
Construction is underway for a scheme of five new two-bedroom houses within Farnham town centre and the Farnham Conservation Area. Heritage considerations have informed the design from the outset, ensuring a sensitive response to the historic context.
The development is conceived as a contemporary mews, arranged around small private courtyards to create an organic plan and a varied composition of pitched roof forms that reflect the local vernacular. The clustered massing establishes a
strong sense of place while maintaining a domestic scale appropriate to its surroundings.
In line with the client’s zero-carbon ambitions, the houses are being constructed using a Structural Insulated Panel System (SIPs), delivering high levels of energy efficiency, airtightness and reduced construction times. The scheme builds on the recent completion of 23 zero-carbon apartments opposite, reinforcing a commitment to sustainable town-centre living.
