Planning approval has been granted for Adelaide House, a Grade II listed early–mid 19th-century neo-classical villa within the Park Road (Teddington) Conservation Area. Forming one half of a pair of significant Georgian houses, the building retains much of its original plan form and historic fabric, reflecting Teddington’s development as an affluent semi-rural retreat from London.
The proposals adopt a conservation-led approach, removing
later unsympathetic additions, reinstating original rear windows, and restoring the clarity of the historic elevations. A sensitively designed replacement extension to the existing single-storey rear outbuilding provides contemporary family accommodation while remaining clearly subservient to the listed house. A lightweight glazed link maintains physical and visual separation between old and new, enhancing natural light and preserving the architectural primacy of the original building.
